Salt Therapy + Infrared Sauna

Salt Therapy + IR Sauna at Very Well

Very Well offers an incredible wellness experience for the whole body and mind, incorporating the powerful healing modalities of salt therapy, an infrared (IR) sauna, and chromotherapy (multi-spectrum light therapy) into one serene and zen-like treatment. You and up to two friends at a time may enjoy this private retreat—and treat for the senses. Read on to discover how our Salt Therapy + IR Sauna can revitalize your immune system, circulation, appearance, pain management, fitness, sports performance, and mood. While the infrared heat helps detoxify, relieve pain, and relax the body, the salt particles may improve respiratory and skin conditions, leaving you feeling rejuvenated and renewed.

Your options for this treatment include: high, low, or no heat on the IR sauna; salt, no salt, or extra-therapeutic salt added to the air; chromotherapy lighting, regular lighting, or no lighting; what sort of music you’d like to play over the built-in bluetooth speakers; and whether to bring up to two friends to share this luxurious treatment. (A small additional fee applies for each added guest.)

You may also choose what to wear during this private session. Some choose to keep their street clothes on while using low sauna heat; some wear bathing suits or strip down to their underwear for higher temperatures.

The History and Science of Salt Therapy

Salt therapy—also referred to as halotherapy—was discovered in the 1800s in Eastern Europe, when doctors realized that salt miners didn’t suffer nearly as often from respiratory and skin conditions as other in the communities. These doctors began to “prescribe” visits to the salt mines, and at some point, the mines even carved out separate areas for this original form of salt therapy. Later, entrepreneurs built machines to simulate the environment, and modern halotherapy was born.

Halotherapy at Very Well mimics the microclimate of a salt cave. Clients inhale micro-sized salt particles, which are immediately transported deep throughout the respiratory system, even to the smallest alveoli and bronchioles. Then the dry salt particles dissolve and treat small impurities.

The History and Science of Infrared (IR) Therapy

Although invented in Japan, IR sauna began to gain notice in the 1960s when Finnish scientists sought to create a more efficient sauna experience, including for people who were less heat-tolerant.

Infrared saunas use electromagnetism to heat your body directly, not the air in the room. The resulting treatment dilates the blood vessels deeper into the body than a normal sauna, and at lower temperatures. The increased circulation not only detoxifies the body but also helps deliver more oxygen and nutrients to the skin.

The Chromotherapy Effect

Chromotherapy, also called multi-spectrum light therapy, is a process of restoring balance to the body and mind through the presence of colored light. As these colors contribute to the soothing atmosphere in our unique salt/IR sauna, they create a demonstrable wellness benefit, as well as providing a meditative aid.

Chromotherapy has shown positive effects in pain management, sleep improvement, and mood regulation.
