About Dr. David Meredith,
D.Ac., L.Ac., Dipl.Ac

Dr. David B. Meredith, D.Ac., L.Ac., Dipl.Ac. is a skillful, experienced healer with a multifaceted background that allows him to approach each challenge from a broad perspective. He holds degrees from the Johns Hopkins University, the University of Baltimore, Tai Sophia Institute, and the Maryland University of Integrative Health and has lived and worked in Chicago, New York City, and Baltimore. He became interested in wellness in the 1990s while employed by a publisher that specialized in health and human potential. In 1997, seeking relief from chronic pain, he began seeing an acupuncturist and in the process found that the treatment opened doors to increased immunity, a lasting sense of well being, and emotional growth that continues to this day. After the turn of the century, he owned two retail stores that focused on health and eco-friendly home products, opened (with several partners) a café that serves organic and all-natural fare, and began his acupuncture training.

Dr. Meredith has been in private practice as a licensed acupuncturist in Baltimore, Maryland since 2012. In 2021, he was voted Best Acupuncturist in the Baltimore Sun “Baltimore’s Best” Readers’ Poll. He is also the coauthor, with his late mentor Bob Duggan, of the book Navigating Living.

About those letters…

D.Ac. = Doctor of Acupuncture, achieved after over 2,800 cumulative hours of clinical training in acupuncture and integrative medicine, including instruction in Chinese classics, anatomy, physiology, pharmacology, addiction recovery, and other disciplines. This training incorporates the M.Ac. (Master of Acupuncture) degree, as well.

L.Ac. = Licensed Acupuncturist. Acupuncture, like all medical professions, is licensed on the state level. Dr. Meredith is licensed by the acupuncture board in the state of Maryland, which falls under the Maryland Department of Health and Mental Hygiene.

Dipl.Ac. = Diplomate of Acupuncture, a national board certification awarded by the National Certification Commission for Acupuncture and Oriental Medicine (NCCAOM), which considers this a “considerable professional achievement” and a “mark of excellence.” The certification is issued after the passing of three multidisciplinary examinations on the foundations of Chinese medicine, the practice of acupuncture, and Western medical principles.

Both the NCCAOM and the Maryland Board of Acupuncture require numerous hours of continuing education yearly to maintain their credentialing.

Happy young Black man taking a selfie outdoors. Perhaps he has received acupuncture in Baltimore.

“I am continually impressed by how articulate, intuitive, intelligent, and caring David is, AND how deeply invested he is in my health and wellness.”
